Penguin Books have a competition to redesign a book cover and you have the choice to pick from a Fiction, Non-fiction and Children's book. I decided to go with their Fiction book which was Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. Whilst I was starting the design I caught Covid-19 so I decided to push my design as I had the time so I designed most of it in Procreate. I wanted the typography to be the main part of the design and this is what I did with bright colours. Once I had the assets I needed from Procreate, I sorted the layout in InDesign to get everything spaced and laid out nicely. I have entered the competition and currently I am waiting for the shortlist to be announced at the end of April.
Little White Lies is a magazine company that writes reviews on films that are coming out. It is a bit like rotten tomatoes but better! It gives you a sneak peek to the film whilst having some amazing illustrations to go along with it, we were asked to create our own on a film of our choice. I decided to go with Twilight, not everyones first choice but I had the idea. All illustrations are done in Adobe Fresco and then laid out in InDesign. Article is also written by myself.
For a brief we were asked to create a front cover and a double page spread for a magazine called The Grid, it is based around music. The article inside could be about anything music related so I decided I would go with albums of the decade (not all of them are made in this decade as I ran out of vinyls). I used the colours from Sam Fender's top and I decided to turn it into a Christmas edition because of this.
